The Editor, Brand Journalism in University Marketing is a seasoned professional who will partner with writers to produce polished content in line with Ohio State’s brand. The candidate must be a skilled editor who has a proven track record of taking content from good to great. The editor must be comfortable providing direction to writers of varying background and skill levels. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of editing that successfully conveys a brand’s voice and tone. He or she will be comfortable translating content to resonate with a wide variety of audiences e.g. (prospective students, alumni, external) and purposes.
The ideal candidate will possess top-notch organizational skills, well-versed in AP style and possess Ohio State brand acumen. Successful candidates will exhibit the behaviors associated with the Office of Advancement’s core competencies: Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Communication/Interpersonal Effectiveness.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; 5 years of experience editing, planning, and writing for publications; Proven writing, editing and organizational skills. Knowledge of AP style; Demonstrated ability of editing to align with standards (including brand voice and audience guidelines.); Basic working knowledge and demonstrated comfort with using online platforms, including web content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal, Wordpress, etc., Microsoft Office applications, and project management systems.
Desired: 5 years of experience editing, planning, and writing for publications; Management experience; Professional experience writing in a university setting.
