Day 0 - The Night Before: My Cruise Blog (2100 hits)
Yes! Today is the day that we leave to Miami for our cruise. I was packing last night and could not sleep much. I meet with Will and Gerald at Will's house and from there we drive through the early morning darkness to the airport at 5am. We booked some real cheap tickets, so we had about 2 pit stops before we make it to Miami. OMG! They are charging $15 per checked bag at the airport! Unbelievable, but luckily we planned that in our cruise budget before we left.
When we finally touch down, we immediately notice the temperature change - a nice change from Ohio weather standards. We grab our bags and take a taxi to our Hotel to stay for the night. We always planned to arrive the day before because we didn't want any flight delays or anything like that to cause us to miss the ship. After we settle into our hotel room, we head out to grab something to eat and enjoy the crazy sunny weather in Miami.
We settle on this restaurant shop with outside seating. It is nice to laugh with my friends and watch the scenery. Just to think, the same time tomorrow, we will be decked out on the ship with a week of fun in full throttle. As we down the last of our food and let our food digest, we contemplate what to do next. We heard about the night life of South Beach, so we head back to the hotel and grab a little nap before it is time to head out again.
It is now 8:30pm. We are just waking up from our naps and are now preparing for our trip to South Beach. It takes us some time to get ready and head down there, but we are there nonetheless. The semi-tropical feel and night lights on the bars and clubs seem unreal - almost like Las Vegas, but not quite. We hit up a bar or two, then swing by a club or two. By the time we know it, it's after 3am and decide to head back to the hotel. By time we make it into our room, it is almost 5am and we are exhausted, but excited that we will be heading for the ship when we wake up.
