Day 2 - First Day At Sea: My Cruise Blog (2378 hits)

Today is the start of my 2nd day on vacation on the ship. Last night, the room steward placed an itinerary of today's ship's activities. Actually, every night, the room steward will place the next day's itinerary in our room so that we can see what's going to go on and then plan our day accordingly. Due to our late night last night, and if we hurry, we can catch a late breakfast on the Lido deck, but I doubt that will happen. We will just go straight to grabbing lunch. Since we woke up late, we already missed a couple of activities that I was thinking about participating in: A $250 prize Bingo Game and an Air Hockey Tournament. Oh well. It's my vacation and I'll get another chance.

As we get ready and head to lunch on the Lido deck, I notice that it is very sunny outside - almost blinding from being in the room for awhile. A lot of people are already in the full swing of the day and enjoying themselves while ours is just starting. The pool is being used plenty and adults and some kids wade playfully in the pool. I see a couple kids and an adult come popping out of the huge water slide I saw yesterday. Oh yeah. You are on my list, just be patient.

We grab lunch at the buffet and then walk around the ship for a bit just as they are starting a "Hairy Chest" competition. Um, I think I'll pass on that one. There is another bingo game going on at 3 so we chill in a couple of beach chairs until that time.

After Bingo, Will suggests that we check the court to see if they let the basketballs out. We all agree and head up. Just as we thought, not only is the chest/locker open, but about 3 guys are on the court shooting around. We decide to join in on the shooting around and later decide to play some 21 and late ron some 3-on-3. I won't give away who won, but I dunked on a few cats. I was so high up in the sky, I could have stepped on top of the rim if I wanted ... ... ok, ok. I'm lying but we had fun. After a few rounds of that int he hot sun, we decide to call it quits and head back to the room.

Wait? What's this? A miniature golf course? Wow! We didn't see this yesterday. Sounds like a plan heading into the next couple of days on our trip.

It's the first of 2 formal nights in the dining room. We had showered up and dressed in our nice suits and now we are seated at our table at dinner. Again, with the menu:

For starters:

Tropical Fruit Berries, Mississippi Delta Prawns, Ragout of Wild Mushrooms, West Indian Roasted Pumpkin Soup, Strawberry Bisque, Mixed Garden and Field Greens, Caesar Salad

For the main course:
Trennette Putanesca, Ancho Honey-Basted Fillet of Fresh Pacific Salmon, Broiled Lobster Tail with Melted Butter, Whole Roasted Quail Filled with a Delicate Herb Stuffing, Tamarind-Rubbed Tender Roasted Prime Rib of American Beef Au Jus, Grilled Brochettes of Fresh Garden Vegetables

... and for desert:
Banana Gateau, Swedish Almond Chocolate Cake, Passion Fruit Indulgence, Cherries Jubilee, Ice Cream, Sherbet, and Cheeses.

Mmmmmmmmmm!
After that, I got to go back to the room and take a short nap. I'm just lazy like that.

We are now preparing to hit the club for the second night in a row when I look at the itinerary and see that at 10pm, there's a "Singles Mingle" Fun Meet. We all raise our eyebrows and head over to the Paparazzi Bar for that event. After that, we hit the club and have a great time. Everyone is enjoying themselves like they don't have a care in the world. It's great! Another relaxing day in the books. Tomorrow is supposed to be a visit to the wonderful island of Puerto Rico. I can't wait.
