Laboratory Assistant at Providence Newberg Medical Center in Newberg, OR.



Per Diem/Variable Shift



The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for the accurate and timely pre-analytical functions of specimen collection, labeling, receipt and processing. Also the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results. The incumbent works with acute care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants and other Laboratory services staff in performing their duties.



The Laboratory Assistant provides support to multiple, regional laboratory personnel and is integral to maintaining the integrity of patient specimens in order to provide accurate and timely patient care.

Required Qualifications:




  • Coursework/Training Successful completion of a nationally accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant training program. Or 1 year phlebotomy experience.


  • Demonstrated outstanding Service Excellence experience.


  • Demonstrated experience with State and Federal and other regulatory Compliance regulations including Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP), EMTALA, ABN, and HIPPA.



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Coursework/Training 2 years of college with courses in biological sciences and medical terminology. Or Associate's Degree


  • Upon hire: Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (ASCP, NCA, etc.)

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
