Warehouse Services Operations Manager
Roadtex Transportation has become a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializing in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Execution and Client Service
Own daily warehouse performance across safety inbound receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, staging, and outbound shipping to meet all client service level agreements and cut-off times.
Plan and deploy labor, equipment, and space based on volume forecasts, staffing levels, and similar operational factors.
Monitor daily work queues and operational constraints; rebalance resources in real time to sustain throughput and eliminate service risks.
Ensure warehouse management system and process accuracy, including task assignment, inventory movement, and exception handling.
Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain equipment & resolve issues rapidly.
Leadership and People Development
Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and hourly associates across assigned shifts and areas; build bench strength and a culture of accountability.
Partner with Human Resources and senior operations leadership on staffing plans, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention for a multi-shift operation.
Conduct performance reviews, routine coaching, and corrective actions aligned to attendance, safety, productivity, and quality standards.
Promote engagement and teamwork through consistent communication, visibility on the floor, and recognition of strong performance.
Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance
Enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and company safety policies through daily floor presence, safety walks, and corrective actions.
Ensure strict compliance with food-grade handling requirements, sanitation standards, and other regulatory compliance.
Lead safety incident investigations, near-miss follow-up, and preventive action planning.
Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to temperature-controlled environment protocols.
Maintain and strengthen standard operating procedures for regulated inventory handling such as FIFO, FEFO, lot control, QA holds, and temperature excursion management.
Performance Management and Continuous Improvement
Deliver results for productivity, order accuracy, inventory integrity, safety performance, and throughput.
Track, analyze, and communicate daily and weekly performance trends; implement corrective actions to close gaps.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as slotting optimization, pick path redesign, engineered standard adherence, labor planning improvements, and seasonal peak readiness.
Identify cost, waste, and process opportunities; lead structured problem solving and root-cause analysis.
Cross-Functional and Client Partnership
Coordinate closely with Inventory Control, Customer Service, Transportation, and Quality teams to align execution with client and network priorities.
Represent operations during client meetings, tours, audits, and performance reviews; ensure audit-ready standards and transparent communication.
Escalate operational risk early and recommend solutions that protect service and cost targets.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of five years of warehouse or distribution center leadership experience in a high-volume environment.
Demonstrated success leading frontline leaders and large hourly teams across multiple shifts.
Experience in a third-party logistics or multi-client distribution environment delivering competing service level agreements.
Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems.
Proven ability to plan labor, manage results through key performance indicators, and drive measurable continuous improvement.
Strong communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
Prior leadership experience in temperature-controlled, food-grade, or regulated warehousing.
Familiarity with labor management systems, engineered standards, and operational dashboards.
Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured continuous improvement training.
Familiar with CI frameworks such as PDCA, SQDIP, Value Stream Mapping, Gemba Walks, and 5-Why’s.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Ability to work in both ambient and temperature-controlled distribution environments with required personal protective equipment.
Regular walking and standing throughout a large facility.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 periodically.
Flexible schedule supporting multi-shift operations, peak seasons, weekends, and holidays as needed.
