Job Summary
KBR is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to join our team at our Las Cruces, NM office for the Summer 2026, June thru August. The selected candidate will operate under the direct supervision of a senior engineer and support projects around ground-based mobile satellite communication systems, antenna manufacturing, and radio frequency engineering. The Electrical Engineer Intern will receive direct mentorship in being able to research, develop, plan, design, and integrate electrical products and systems. This position will apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering to support engineering staff on projects and solve engineering problems in all phases of design, development, integration/implementation, analysis, and testing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental electrical engineering principles
Apply electrical engineering principles in areas of RF, power, AC/DC circuit, communications, and software
Validate vendor equipment performance and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results
Support senior engineers with final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis
Troubleshoot and resolve systems for satellite/radio frequency communications and power distribution
May perform site surveys and field installations with project teams
Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
Support engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results
Abide by company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks
Must hold a valid drivers license and have the ability to obtain a US DOD security clearance
Basic Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen with valid documentation
Must be currently enrolled at an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of RF systems
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00
Able to work up to 40 hours per week during the internship program
